Host Families

Because matching an international student with a host family is among the most important aspects of the program, it is extremely important to provide every international student with a safe, caring and loving host family.

Background checks on all persons over 18 years of age residing in the household are conducted and all host families are carefully screened through an in-person interview, personal reference checks and home inspection.

Host families provide three square meals a day for the student, along with transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities. All types of families apply to host international students; there is no "typical" host family. Families can have small or teenage children at home, be empty nesters with adult children, or be couples with no children, as well as single parents or single adults.

My favorite part of the program is staying with the host family. They will introduce you to American culture, teach you English languages.

Host Family Placement

BASIS Global handles all host family placements for students accepted into a BASIS charter school in Arizona, including mandatory background checks on every person over 18 years of age residing in the household and carefully screening potential host families through an in-person interview, personal reference checks and home inspection.

BASIS Global partners with a third party to provide host family placement for students accepted into BASIS Independent Brooklyn or BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. To learn more about the homestay experience at these two schools, please contact Wade Stephens at wade@eduboston.com.
